We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and maintaining claims tracking. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our Home Care Office and Behavioral Health facility, while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Billing Specialist Responsibilities:
- Process and submit insurance claims to various payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information by coordinating with healthcare providers and patients.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe, identifying and resolving billing issues and disputes with insurance companies.
- Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in patient records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security.
- Prepare reports on billing activities and account statuses as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date records of billing activities, payments, adjustments, and account statuses using medical billing software.
- Implement and adhere to billing policies and procedures to reduce the risk of fraud and ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations, including Ohio Medicaid and MCO policies. Keep up to date on changes to any regulation or policy.
Billing Specialist Skills & Qualifications:
- Work at a brisk pace, handling multiple accounts and adhering to billing cycles and insurance claim deadlines.
- Medical Terminology, ICD-10 Coding, CPT Coding, Insurance Verification, Claims submission required, Accounts Receivable Management preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required, associate’s degree preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Billing Specialist Requirements:
- Proven experience in medical billing or a related role within a medical office setting.
- Strong understanding of medical coding practices, including familiarity with ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to interpret medical records accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
