The Minerva Public Library is seeking a new Library Assistant - Teen, and we would like you to consider joining our team.
Our ideal candidate is someone who will help to provide vital services to the people of Minerva. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working with young people, is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to delivering excellent customer service, and can create and present engaging programs to patrons aged 10-17.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Prior customer service experience is required.
- Prior experience working with youth ages 10-17 preferred.
- Communicate effectively and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Adept at using computers and other standard office equipment,
- Ability to accurately organize items by subject or in alphanumeric order.
- Able to work a flexible schedule of 20-29 hours to support the Library's open hours.
- Includes daytime and evening hours, as well as weekdays and weekends.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assists patrons at all public service points, including over the phone.
- Provides instruction on the use of library services.
- Resolves issues related to patron records, complaints, fees, and holds.
- Performs desk duties and process library transactions.
- Responds to situations in accordance with Library policies.
- Cares for and maintains the Library collection.
- Creates and presents Library programming for our teen & tween patrons.
- Provides services to teen & tween patrons, including reference and reader’s advisory.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $13.25 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 29 per week
