Our Activities Director plays a key role in our Montessori classrooms, cultivating high quality learning opportunities for infants, toddlers, preschool and Kindergarten aged students (birth through 6 years old). This is a full-time position which works alongside trained Montessori Teachers (as part of a teaching team) to deliver on our mission to develop a lifelong love of learning in our students.
Responsibilities
- Direct Supervision: Maintaining constant direct supervision of children and ensuring all staff members do the same. Responsible for keeping up to date records on attendance and incidents.
- Staff Management: Fostering a positive work environment, handling challenging situations, and ensuring appropriate staffing ratios. Delegating tasks as needed. Comfortable creating and managing break and afternoon schedules.
- Activity Planning: Monthly themes and weekly activities for the extended day program. Creating bulletin boards that coincide with the monthly theme as well as maintaining a space for the students to use throughout the day.
- Classroom/School Duties: Assisting teachers, overseeing cleanliness and building security, and reporting maintenance needs.
- School Responsibilities: Coordinating afternoon staffing, managing parent communication (including handling inquiries and messages), maintaining supplies, planning daily activities, and assisting with new staff orientation. This includes managing the daily clipboard, tracking children's locations, and handling late pick-ups and illnesses.
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older;
- Minimum Required: CDA or Associate’s Degree, or some college coursework;
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development).
