SUMMARY:
Materials handler performs a variety of duties in support of the warehouse, shipping, receiving and production functions. Material handler loads, unloads, stores, issues, delivers and maintains inventories on production and service department with stock, parts, work-in progress, finished goods, tools and supplies within the plant. This position has a broad set of job and performance responsibilities with the qualification and independence to operate efficiently and safely with minimal supervisory input. May require some travel. This position reports to the shift Process Technician. Multiple shifts available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a forklift, overhead lift (hoist) and other material handling equipment and successfully pass standardized exams for operator certification.
- Ensure that there are correct materials to keep injection molding machines running.
- Remove materials and equipment from machines that are no longer needed and setting up materials and equipment required for next job.
- Thoroughly clean grinders, dryers, and material loaders.
- Maintain the materials at machines that are in use and pre-stage upcoming jobs.
- Pull materials from inventory per specification and filling necessary documentation.
- Perform cycle counts.
- Mix materials and concentrates per specification.
- Set auto loaders to attain proper regrind ratio.
- Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned in the support of the company’s needs, goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior injection molding experience. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to go through the required Injection Molding progressive training.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Experience with material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack) preferred. Twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Basic computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a valid Driver’s License. Must be able to obtain a forklift license. Must be willing to obtain certifications as the job warrants.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 35 pounds to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
