SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Supervisor will be a member of the manufacturing leadership team, instilling a culture of continuous improvement throughout our organization. Their primary responsibility will be to manage the daily operations of the production floor while working with management to identify opportunities within our operation and executing plans to drive long term improvements while meeting customer demand. This individual will be responsible for daily shift performance in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost and 5s.
This person will be responsible for the quality, process and operation of the assigned presses. Oversees the assigned personnel, materials, equipment and administration functions necessary to achieve departmental quality, delivery and efficiency goals while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the indirect support staff to drive the day-to-day production requirements. At times, provide direction, support and guidance to quality technicians, members of the material's group, and maintenance technicians.
Review the production jobs, against standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost; to ensure we are meeting standard rates, scrap levels, etc. Provide root cause and corrective actions for processes that fall out of control.
Report daily shift metrics on shift production summaries. Production reporting as well as job and end of shift reporting.
Ensure quality product by establishing and enforcing company standards. Ability to process/sample a wide variety of materials.
Evaluation of equipment and direction of repairs when needed. Evaluating and reporting production information by analyzing production reports.
Utilize Scientific Injection Molding technology to problem solve current production problems.
Complete process and set-up sheets. Oversee assigned presses, personnel, equipment, and materials.
Provide technical support for production. Troubleshoot and remedy situations that do not meet specifications. Enforcing the general rules of the production floor, including safety, dress code, etc.
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to the product, process, and quality system. Establish and maintain written procedures per ISO requirements.
Responsible for ensuring that line clearance has taken place properly. Check all necessary auxiliary equipment each shift.
All personnel working on Food Grade presses or assembly must notify supervisor immediately if they are ill or if they have any concerns that would potentially jeopardize food safety. Personnel must be aware of the relevance and importance of their individual activities in contributing to food safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 3 years of injection molding plastics processing experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Above average computer skills required including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.). Ability to communicate effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Driver’s License. Must be able to obtain a forklift, ariel lift and overhead crane license. Must be willing to obtain certifications as the job warrants.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
