Job Summary
The position maintains environmental and infection control standards and regulatory requirements within established policies and procedures of Minidoka Memorial Hospital. The position performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the facility. Provides clean linen for the Hospital and Extended Care Facility.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Loads articles into washer; set washer and chemical dispenses to proper setting.
- Distributes and tracks clean linens to user departments and maintains stock levels on nursing floors.
- Monitors laundering machines to clean articles such as sheets, towels, rags, wiping cloths and filter cloths.
- Folds dried linen and places items in appropriate storage spaces. Delivers clean linen to appropriate departments.
- Clean laundry department to reflect current standards at the end of each shift.
- Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them into dryers for measured time cycles.
- Sorts dried articles according to identification numbers or type. Folds and places items in appropriate storage bins.
- Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry lists.
- Soaks contaminated articles as per policy.
- Able to read and understand equipment operation manuals.
- Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
- Uses and maintains equipment properly.
- Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
- Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
- Ability to do work on his / her own with normal supervision.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Completes annual education requirements.
- Maintains regulatory requirements.

- Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.
