What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner, Concussion Focus position at Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology?
The Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology (MCN) seeks a Nurse Practitioner with a focus on concussion care to join a busy neurology practice.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assessing individuals with symptoms of concern for possible concussion
- Ordering and administering diagnostic tests as appropriate
- Differentiating normal from abnormal results in diagnostic testing and assessment
- Diagnosing patients who most likely have had a concussion
- Prescribing a personalized and comprehensive rehabilitation plan
- Communicating with an interdisciplinary team of neuropsychologists, neuro-optometrists, vestibular therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-therapists, among other providers in and outside of the clinic for streamlined care
- Following-up on appointments to extend care or patients
- Monitoring patients' recovery progress
- Maintaining accurate records and documenting patient care
- Staying up to date with the best-in-class, evidence-based concussion care out there and guiding the strategic direction of our clinic
- Participating in research on the cutting-edge forefront of concussion care
- Educating patients, family members, community members, colleagues, and other providers on appropriate treatment plans for concussion management
- Advocating for best practices in concussion care, which may include local, regional, or national level
- Updating clinical protocols as needed
Qualifications:
- High degree of understanding on the latest concussion evidence-based protocols
- Advanced training in concussion management
- Excellent clinical skills and be able to function with a high level of autonomy
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented, possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
This position is benefit eligible and includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO.
- Master's degree from Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program with certification and current license required. Experience caring for concussion patients in acute and/or primary care settings.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
- Proficiency with electronic health record required.
