SUMMARY:
MCAD is seeking a Media Technician – Production Facilities. This position is responsible for coordinating with the Media Technology Services Manager on maintaining MCAD’s Media Center equipment and studio circulation systems. This position provides primary support for the use of the college’s Sound Studio, Film Studio, Auditoriums 140 and 150, and provides technical support to individuals and classes using these facilities. The Media Technician must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a full time, non-exempt position expected to work 35 hours a week. This position reports to the Media Technology Service Manager and is paid $23.00 hourly.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide equipment circulation services to students, faculty and staff at the Media Center circulation window.
- Ensure operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Assist Media Center staff with troubleshooting, demos and in-house repairs. Assist with the coordination of off-site repairs.
- Ensure operability of circulation equipment by direct inspection and/or verification and troubleshoot any concerns.
- Create equipment and kit documentation including labels, shelf tags, etc.
- Train and supervise circulation counter specialists.
- Provide troubleshooting for classroom AV, studio and gallery installations, and auditorium equipment.
- Assist with software administration of Webcheckout, MCAD’s asset management system. Assist Media Center Manager to oversee the accuracy of the department’s equipment inventory database and hardware warranty tracking.
- Assist with the annual equipment inventory.
- Act as the first point of contact for MCAD live events.
- Assist with student exhibition consultations and AV event technician support.
- Work with other Media Center Technicians to draft and maintain online support documentation for exhibition and event equipment.
- Instruct patrons on Media Center policies and reservation systems.
- Assist in the coordination and scheduling of large equipment checkouts.
- Assist in coordinating access and usage of MCAD’s Sound Studio, and Film and Video Studio, and their related equipment needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Media Art, Sound Technology, or other related fields, strongly preferred.
- Two (2) years customer service experiences, required.
- Experience providing AV support for live events, required.
- Availability to work some nights and weekends for live events, required.
- Demonstrated ability to be versatile and work with people in a service capacity in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, required.
- Two (2) years working in a Media Arts related field, strongly preferred.
- Professional experience managing physical inventories, and working with asset management systems, preferred.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of audio, video, presentation, and photography equipment, including troubleshooting and repair, preferred.
- Strong functional knowledge and experience using both analog and digital media technologies, preferred.
- Experience using live streaming software like OBS, Google Meet, and Zoom, preferred.
- Apple and MacOS computer experience, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively to daily evolving organizational systems, preferred.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and technical communication skills, preferred.
ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; lift equipment 25-50 pounds; and reach with hands and arms.
