SUMMARY:
MCAD is seeking a Media Technology Services Manager. This position is responsible for comprehensive planning and supervising of operational support for the College’s media and time-based technology facilities and services and ensure quality departmental support services for the following primary areas: live-action film/video, animation, audio production, web/multimedia environments, classroom AV, online meetings/web conferencing, and technical assistance for events/exhibitions. The Media Technology Services Manager must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a full-time, exempt position expected to work 35 hours a week. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and is paid $49,000 - $54,000 annually.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the overall operations of the school’s digital media services and facility areas including the Media Center and M/LAB. Develop and enforce Media Center policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Supervise all Media Center employees, provide annual performance evaluations, and keep job descriptions accurate and up-to-date. Works closely with AVP Academic Affairs during the replacement hiring process.
- Work closely with the MC team to develop and perform technology workshops, in-class demos, and activities focused on digital media and its overall use in the school’s curriculum.
- Attend and participate in curricular and institutional planning meetings to develop and implement new technological initiatives.
- Serve as primary contact for key MC hardware vendors/partners: EPA, Central Acoustics, B&H, Adorama, CDW, and Cinequipt.
- Provide input to budgeting decisions and coordinate the acquisition of MA-focused technology hardware and software.
- Oversee MC budget accounting, inventory barcoding, audit reporting, and appropriate invoice coding/documentation including shared purchasing (new/replacement) plan.
- Communicate academic hardware/software needs for implementation in managed software images for laptops and school-owned computers.
- Provide primary software administrator role for WebCheckout, MCAD’s equipment reservation/circulation solution.
- Oversee the accuracy of the department’s equipment inventory database and hardware warranty tracking.
- Work closely with Media Technology Specialists to document (including videography/post-production) and provide quality AV support services for the school’s high-profile events including live streaming, online meetings, web conferencing, and student/gallery exhibition needs.
- Oversee management of a comprehensive AV event/meeting shared calendar including assigning technicians to ensure budgetary compliance, and provide an accurate accounting of event staff schedules and timecard chargebacks.
- Manage the reservation and circulation of advanced film equipment and act as primary film/video liaison for student and faculty troubleshooting/guidance.
- Assist in resolving second and third-tier media technology request tracker AV support tickets. Takes ownership, reviews, and approves/denies appropriate Personal Proposals.
- Act as liaison for faculty regarding documenting and coordinating resolution for specialized classroom and advanced production area technology issues.
- Work with the Media Center team to monitor and maintain safety and security compliance for appropriate support facilities/resources.
- Provide backup MC counter coverage as needed.
- Oversee and develop instructional documentation, online training materials, and other applicable web learning resources in conjunction with all MC staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibility for all Media Center employees: an Animation Lab Technician, two Media Technicians, a Media Technology Fellow, and student employees.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent in art/design or media/technology field, required.
- Three (3) years of documented management experience, required.
- Experience in media technology, required.
- Proven technical ability and demonstrated expertise working with Apple hardware and industry-standard production software, strongly preferred.
- Knowledge/understanding of other operating systems, cross-platform environments, and basic network concepts, strongly preferred.
- Experience with a Higher Education environment, preferred.
