What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Quality Support (Temporary) position at Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board?

- Collect water quality samples from lakes, beaches, stormwater, and Webber natural swimming pool.
- Process water quality samples and deliver to the laboratory.
- Collect and manage data related to lakes, creeks, and groundwater wells.
- Clean, calibrate, and troubleshoot probes and other sampling equipment in the field and in the lab.
- Complete water quality projects in the field and the office, both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Additional field and office projects as assigned.

Need to Have:
- Must be 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of college-level science coursework
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- Interest in a career in water resources, including water quality monitoring and fieldwork.
- Experience and/or coursework related to water resources such as limnology, field methods, aquatic invasive species, or aquatic macrophytes.
- Interest or experience in stormwater management or monitoring.
- Interest or experience in bacteria and cyanotoxin sampling for public health.
- Experience with GPS, ArcGIS, or R-Studio.
- Experience transporting and operating canoes, boats, and trailers.
- Completion of bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in a scientific field of study.

- Able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Able to operate equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
- Able to remain in a sitting or standing position for extended periods of time.
- Able to work for prolonged periods of times outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must wear closed toed shoes.
