Minneapolis Park Market Lead

Role Summary

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is seeking a Minneapolis Park Market Lead for the Program at Minnehaha Falls and Lake Harriet. The Park Market Lead will:

• Oversee a complete and visually appealing market set-up and tear-down, prioritizing safety, accessibility, and effective trash removal.
• Ensure the transportation of all necessary equipment and supplies to the market, verifying their good working condition.
• Accurately communicate vendor attendance and market logistics to staff, volunteers, and the public.
• Direct the safe flow of traffic for vehicles operating on and around the market site.
• Cultivate and maintain supportive relationships with vendors, demonstrating familiarity with their products and practices
• Troubleshoot, solve problems, and resolve conflicts presented by vendors.
• Implement MPRB’s vendor policies and procedures and assist vendors in complying with laws, regulations, and best practices related to the sale of their products.
• Collaborate with the Event Coordinator to curate balanced and successful marketplaces.
• Manage scheduling and communicate logistics with vendors in advance of market attendance.
• Promote inclusivity within our markets and culture by fostering positive relationships.
• Record vendor attendance, shopper counts, and gross sales data.
• Accurately track and maintain records on-site, easily accessible to health inspectors and other officials, for all market vendors qualifying for exemption under Minnesota State Statute 28A.05a or registered under the Minnesota Cottage Food Law.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license, clear driving record and reliable transportation
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude, and adaptability
• Must be able to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
• Must be able to consistently arrive to programs prepared and on-time
• Ability to foster and maintain a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful atmosphere within the market.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in the management of markets, events, or coordination off facilities.
• Ability to utilize spreadsheets, desktop publishing tools, and databases for efficient data management and reporting.
• Familiarity with marketing strategies, recreational programming concepts, and event planning principles.

Background Check

Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought.

Compensation and Benefits

$22.00-$26.00 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement when applicable.

You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.

Hours

Hours and days will vary and will include evening and weekend hours. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs. This position will be responsible for the Market at Minnehaha Falls on Fridays and Lake Harriet on Sundays.
