What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Assistant – Biking position at Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (Temp)?
Role Summary
Assist in implementing key bicycling initiatives at the MPRB local parks. Bicycling initiatives include Girls Bike Adventures program, bike rodeos, Cycling Camp and other bicycling initiatives.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Help supervise and instruct children at city wide bike camps and programs
- Help lead the Girls Bike Adventures program on bike rides around local parks and bikes trails while teaching young riders bicycling skills and instilling confidence
- Assist in teaching the basics of bike safety and riding skills to young riders
Minimum Qualifications
- Experienced biker in multiple biking conditions (street, off-road, etc.)
- Must transport self to different park sites
- Experience working with children preferred but not required
- Certification from a Bike Safety program a plus
Background Check
Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought.
Compensation and Benefits
$16.25-$18 per hour.
You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
Hours
Part-Time, afternoons and evenings, 15-25 hours per week.
Programs run for 10 weeks, or from June 7 – August 16, 2024.
Training for the position will be in May.
