What are the responsibilities and job description for the StreetReach Attendant position at Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (Temp)?
Role Summary
Develop community connections through youth and adult engagement, intervention, de-escalation and mediation strategies for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) as part of the StreetReach outreach team. Promote safe and welcoming environments in Minneapolis parks and neighborhoods. Engage adults and youth, build supportive relationships with adults and youth with high-risk factors including exposure to neighborhood violence, poverty, or low income, highly mobile or homeless, substance use or abuse, or gang exposure or involvement.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Two years of experience working directly with youth, adults, teens, and families in community settings
- Two years of experience working with homelessness populations
- Must pass a background check and have driver’s license
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with a diverse community using courtesy, tact, and good judgement.
- Work independently with general supervision.
- Ability to outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to perform assigned work independently and responsibly, as well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and complete physical tasks (lift, carry, pull, etc.)
- Passion for working with inner city youth
- Violence prevention skills and or training
- Crisis Management skills and or training
- Other youth preventive skills or training
- Community focused
Background Check
Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought.
Compensation and Benefits
$18.58 – $24.00 per hour.
You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
