Minnehaha Academy Summer Day Camps is seeking a part-time summer assistant to provide in-person support for the Summer Programs Director. The position requires working full-time on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the eight weeks of the camp, with additional hours available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This position will also serve as a substitute teacher for the Preschool classroom.
This position is full-time (8:00 am - 4:15 pm) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Part-time/flexible (8:00 am - 12:45 pm) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Full or Part-time as needed in the Preschool classroom.
Camp Dates: June 9 - August 1, 2025.
(Please note: No camp on June 19 & July4)
Salary Range: $18 - $20 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
- Assist the Director and Assistant Director with administrative tasks.
- Serve as the substitute teacher for the Pre-K classroom as needed.
- Support staff members and classroom management and address student behavior needs.
- Manage door access to the building when needed.
- Assist with the morning-to-afternoon camp transitions.
- Communicate with parents as needed regarding behavioral or medical (illness, injury) situations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and either a) 2,080 hours as an aide or student intern or b) 12 quarter credits.
- Experience in Early Childhood and/or working with preschool children, parents, and staff.
- Passion for working and playing with children.
- Flexibility, dependability, and strong organizational skills.
- Strong people skills to interact positively with the children, parents, and staff.
- Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
- Support and implement the mission of the school.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Ability to complete a background check and DHS-required training and courses.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
