The Minnehaha County Facilities Department is accepting applications for Seasonal Facilities/Groundskeeper Workers to join their team this summer!
Join our seasonal team and experience a diverse range of responsibilities within the department. Support the Groundskeeper in various outdoor tasks across the Minnehaha County campus and designated County Cemeteries. We are seeking to fill two seasonal positions, both full-time hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday. The start date is flexible, making it convenient for your schedule. This position is available from May through the fall.
Help maintain the beauty and upkeep of the grounds with your hard work—secure your summer job today! Our interviews are casual and will be conducted in person or virtually to allow flexibility for those currently located outside of Minnehaha County.

How You Will Make an Impact
Responsibilities include:
- Operate, maintain, and repair push and riding lawn mowers, as well as mowing tractors.
- Load tractors onto trailers for transport to cemeteries.
- Rake and bag grass, trim trees, hedges, and shrubs.
- Collect and dispose of leaves and branches.
- Replace sod and remove trash from the lawn.
- Plant, water, and care for flowers, grass, trees, and shrubs.
- Trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
- Pull weeds, mulch flower beds, cut back dead grass, and maintain overall appearance.
- General shop cleanup and occasional custodial duties.
- Move and haul furniture, scrap metal, lumber, debris, etc.
- Paint walls in newly remodeled areas and repaint existing walls.
- Light construction work.
What You Need to Succeed in this Role
High school diploma or GED plus one year of work experience in a related position. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Requirements vary by position and may include some, or all, of the following: valid driver's license and a safe driving record, ability to lift 50lbs and perform moderately strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time, and the ability to work outdoors. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
