SUMMARY
This position supervises and coordinates activities related to safety, ordering, receiving, storing, inventory management, and shipping of materials and supplies in the stockroom, warehouse, ensuring efficient operations and a collaborative work environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervisory Responsibilities
- LMA – Leadership, Management, Accountability
- Recruits, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
- Act as coach and mentor to all employees in the Warehouse department.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Provide constructive and timely performance conversations.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Design and organize the warehouse and stockroom layout to maximize space efficiency, considering item turnover, size, and weight.
- Advise employees on handling, storing, and shipping items, including proper equipment use and care.
- Review records for accuracy and compliance, ensuring adequate stock levels and recommending actions for non-usable or excess stock.
- Ensure compliance with all vehicle regulations and traffic laws.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by reporting and investigating accidents, ensuring proper training, and maintaining equipment.
- Assist Inventory Control Specialist with building maintenance, including safety, security, fire prevention, and general upkeep.
- Plan and oversee special and routine inventory counts, including audits, to ensure accuracy and effective coordination of work procedures and schedules.
- Communicate clear instructions and assignments, ensuring work is completed accurately, neatly, and in compliance with company policies.
- Standardize procedures to improve efficiency and address errors and complaints.
- Manage fleet operations, including scheduling and training drivers, vehicle maintenance, and cost reduction strategies.
- Participates in continuous learning & development and training initiatives through department specific trainings, MN Air University, HR training programs, tech-support led courses, Webinars, or other job-related trainings to foster a continuous learning and development mindset.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Strong leadership skills, including setting achievable goals, motivating team members, and managing conflicts effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of warehouse operations and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effectively collaborating with employees and customers, including handling challenging situations with professionalism.
- Effective decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic planning abilities.
- Ability to work hands-on in daily operations while also managing department goals and strategy.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and providing quick solutions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three years of related experience or training in warehouse operations.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
- Valid Driver’s License and a good driving record.
- Forklift Certification (can be obtained on the job).
