Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Library Technician organizes, maintains, and delivers library services and provides technical and instructional support to patrons in the use of library resources. This includes serving as the technical vendor contact for online databases and access services, maintaining the e-journal and e-book collections through title list updates and other detailed metadata procedures, collecting database usage statistics, assisting in the maintenance of online tutorials, and assisting students with technology. This role will direct students, faculty, and staff to the academic librarian, when appropriate.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS :

  • Provide assistance and instruction on the use of library resources, services, and technology to library patrons including faculty, staff, and students of the college. This includes assisting students with accessing reference materials, online databases, general computer operations, password resets, etc.
  • Priority : Essential Percent of Time : 50%

  • Assist the Librarian with coordination of the circulation of library materials, processing new materials, maintaining library collections and inventories, and daily operations of the library.
  • Priority : Essential Percent of Time : 25%

  • Assist in the hiring, training, evaluating, and direction of work of student employees to ensure the successful function of library services.
  • Priority : Essential Percent of Time : 10%

  • Assist the Librarian with programming events and workshops for student success.
  • Priority : Essential Percent of Time : 10%

  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
  • Priority : Essential Percent of Time : 5%
