Specific Requirements
- Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a Seventh-day Adventist church member in regular standing, and a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere.
- Must have an Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or similar.
- Must have North American Division Teaching Certification, or work towards receiving certification within an agreed upon timeframe.
- Completion of a Seventh-day Adventist teacher training program or experience in a Seventh-day Adventist educational program preferred.
- Must demonstrate a willingness to work cooperatively with Maplewood and Conference administration and personnel.
- Must be able to write and speak English fluently.
- Job Summary
- The Teacher will provide a classroom atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual growth.
- Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Identifies, selects and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needs.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment.
- Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group and subject area.
- Observe and evaluate students' performance and development.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
- Maintains online lesson plans/class information in LMS.
- Consistently utilizing instructional technology and 21st century teaching methods to engage students on all campuses.
- Support the mission of the school in words and actions.
- Prepare and update all necessary reports and records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures as stated in the school handbook.
- Provide student support, counsel students with academic problems and provide student encouragement.
- Advocate on behalf of students for academic support and counseling.
- Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules, procedures and appropriate disciplinary measures as outlined in the student handbook.
- Complete all required continued educational requirements.
