This position will provide skilled electrical work to the buildings on the Capitol Complex. Job responsibilities of the Electrician position include:

  • Install, alter, maintain and repair electrical wiring, apparatus and equipment for communication, lighting, heating, and power, while adhering to all City, State and Federal codes
  • Review plans, blueprints, and specifications for electrical projects.
  • Recommend project changes and define detailed project tasks and scope.
  • Estimate time, labor and materials costs
  • Use modern electrical test instruments to troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment and make needed repairs
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and procedures and recommend changes
  • Purchase parts and supplies according to state rules and regulations
  • Maintain records and drawings, which includes working with computer maintenance programs

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED LICENSES

  • Current Minnesota Class A Journey Worker license. Your resume must clearly indicate your current license to be considered.
  • Valid Class D driver's license with acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Preventative maintenance of electrical distribution systems in commercial operations with multiple utility feeders and loop distribution systems up to 15,000 volts
  • New construction and remodeling
  • Nondestructive maintenance techniques (thermography, ultrasonic testing, vibration analysis, etc.)
  • Repairing and maintaining frequency drives, soft starts, programmable controllers and similar equipment

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of SCADA controlled electrical systems
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications and contract terminology related to electrical installations

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Climb a ladder while carrying up to 30 pounds
  • Perform other physical tasks needed to perform all related job duties
