Under limited supervision, this position provides specialized professional therapeutic programming to offenders in an alcohol and other drug treatment program. Incumbent is capable of performing all aspects of program content, including security, assessment/evaluation, psycho-educational programming, monitoring and reporting, teaching, training and professional standards.

Work is with incarcerated individuals in Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) – Lino Lakes.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for Clinical Program Therapist 2 (Chemical Dependency), applicants must meet the following qualifications:

LICENSURE:

Current licensure or eligibility for licensure* by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.

(*NOTE TO LICENSE-ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS: Please include information regarding your license-eligibility in your resume or application. To maintain employment, the successful candidate who is eligible for LADC licensure must possess a temporary ADC permit within 60 calendar days of the first day of employment and current LADC license within the probationary period.)

AND

Experience/Education

One year of experience providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy, to clients with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders;

OR

Master's degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling/Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family, Counseling, or a related Behavioral Health/Science program**

  • Knowledge of substance use treatment methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of professional, legal, and ethical standards; best practices; and community standards of care.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication, including proficient documentation skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills.
  • Basic personal computer skills.
  • Ability to provide substance use treatment; formulate and implement an individualized treatment plan; and develop a continuing care plan.
  • Ability to teach a psycho-educational course; effectively function within a multi-disciplinary team; exercise sound judgment; and demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota LADC licensure at time of hire.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related Behavioral Science or Social Science program.
  • Experience working in a correctional/secure setting.

Physical Requirements

The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. For a copy of the PDA, please email Shelley Rojesky at shelley.rojesky@state.mn.us. This position will require Tuberculosis screening prior to hire.

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
