This position performs designated duties relating to incarcerated individual diagnosis and treatment in order to assist practitioners and nurses, in a clinic setting, in the provision of general health care; and to perform related duties as assigned. This position will collaborate with a regional team of Telehealth Navigators to provide onsite technical assistance, coaching and guidance to site-based virtual health care appointments. The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening and/or respirator clearance. Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.

- Manage the daily operation of Central Region telehealth clinics.
- Support the Telehealth Coordinator in the scheduling, workflow, processes and protocols used to establish and maintain the use of telehealth opportunities as indicated.
- Assist in maintaining the medical records system and provide technical and administrative assistance as directed.
- Provide direct incarcerated individual care, as delegated by an RN and/or practitioner, ensuring that incarcerated individuals are receiving appropriate and quality care in the most efficient manner. Provide face to face education to incarcerated individuals regarding their health care needs and to promote self care, in a safe and secure environment.
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. - Completion of an approved training program in medical assisting plus certification or registration as a medical assistant by passing a national examination.
- Computer experience sufficient to prepare videoconferencing equipment, complete electronic charting, and use basic computer functions such as email.
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for the position:
- Clinical experience in a hospital, long-term care and/or clinic setting.
- Experience working in a correctional or secured setting.
- Experience in specialized clinical area(s), such as in gender-specific, geriatric, juvenile health care, medical/surgery unit, and/or behavioral health.
