This position actively supports correctional evidence-based practices training and interventions across the state. This position will provide EBP training to correctional staff and partners at the Statewide Training Academy and provide EBP curriculum training to new staff and partner facilitators in cognitive-behavioral interventions. This position will also support ongoing learning of staff and partner participants through actively creating, coordinating, and leading communities of practices and refreshers in EBP curriculum. This position will assist other EBP unit staff in the observation, feedback, coaching of staff at all levels, and provide quality assurance & fidelity monitoring of individual and group interventions, coaching circles, and implementation needs designed to support increased proficiency of tools and interventions used across the state.
Hybrid/Telework: The specific Minnesota work location will be determined at the time of appointment based on department business needs and applicant availability. This position offers a hybrid work environment including telework and field work. Field work may include, but is not limited to traveling to various Minnesota Correctional Facilities (MCF) locations which may include Faribault, Lino Lakes. Oak Park Heights, Moose Lake, Red Wing, Rush City, St. Cloud, Shakopee, Stillwater, Togo and Willow River.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.

- Two (2) years of experience utilizing a variety of correctional evidence-based practices (EBP), including but not limited to, motivational interviewing, risk, need, responsivity assessments, integrated case planning, cognitive behavioral tools, and/or Communities of Practice.
- Experience providing correctional EBP facilitation/training for corrections professionals.
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Applicants meeting the above minimum qualifications will be further assessed on the following:
- Knowledge of correctional EBP sufficient to design, develop, and implement EBP activities and training that can be utilized statewide for all three supervision delivery systems as well as DOC prison facilities.
- Written communication skills sufficient to write DOC project plans, and reports regarding evidence-based practices.
- Ability to design and implement an EBP training plan for the DOC as a prototype for utilization statewide.
- Ability to strategically develop and implement EBP-based correctional programs and evaluate existing services for clients and incarcerated individuals.
- Ability to research and analyze new and emerging trends and best practices in correctional evidence-based practices.
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Law Enforcement, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years or more of professional experience using a variety of correctional evidence-based practices (EBP), including but not limited to, motivational interviewing, risk, need, responsivity assessments, integrated case planning, cognitive behavioral tools, coaching staff/peers and/or Communities of Practice.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and/or evaluating correctional evidence-based practices and/or programming.
- Experience coordinating an EBP quality assurance evaluation process.
- Experience as a Lead or Master level trainer in at least two (2) EBP curricula such as Motivational Interviewing, Core Correctional Practices, Case Planning, Assessments, and/or Cognitive Behavioral Programming.
