As DEED’s Marketing Communications Strategist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing external-facing strategies that promote DEED initiatives and priorities that help grow Minnesota’s workforce, enhance the development of our business community and ensure Minnesota’s economic competitiveness. Reporting to DEED’s Creative Director, this position gives you the chance to be a part of DEED’s success at a high level. In addition to being responsible for social media, you will write content, help develop materials and execute marketing communications campaigns. You will work on special strategic communications projects at the request of the DEED Communications Director and Creative Director. You will also interact with senior leadership, including the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners and program leads to develop, implement and execute strategic planning for marketing initiatives and activities at DEED – including event and promotional support via marketing campaigns.
In short, as DEED’s Marketing Communications Strategist, you will be the agency’s resident expert on marketing and will have many opportunities to showcase and exercise that expertise!
This position is telework eligible and is occasionally required to be on-site at the St. Paul office. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment and may telework from anywhere in Minnesota or a neighboring state. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.
This position requires local and regional daytime travel. This position is expected to last up to two (2) years.

- Bachelor's degree in marketing or other closely related field as determined by the agency may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Ability to effectively communicate, think strategically, plan, develop and implement marketing and communication plans
- Experience coordinating multi-channel marketing campaigns in a range of social media and other digital platforms
- Experience with online content management systems (CMS), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), analysis and reporting for effective implementation of marketing plans
- Bachelor's degree in marketing
- Knowledge of business and economic development or talent attraction techniques, campaigns and industry best practices
- Experience writing marketing messaging for agency leadership and contributing insight to shape talking points as needed
- Demonstrated experience creating, budgeting, and measuring paid social media campaigns, paid search campaigns, and other traditional marketing tools and channels
- Experience with project management sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously, create clear and attainable project objectives, build project requirements, oversee costs, time and scope of projects, manage project constraints and communicate progress and end results
