What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Outreach Coordinator position at Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development?
This position will be located in North Minneapolis.
This position exists to provide career services through our Step-Up Summer youth program in partnership with the City of Minneapolis. This position will support program through Outreach to schools, working one on one with youth for matching internships and families to insure a positive experience. Orientations, group instruction, and 1:1 assistance (online, over the phone and in-person) to ensure youth are empowered to make informed career choices. Also, provides training on how to seek employment through job search classes, resume writing classes and other employment-related workshops both online and in-person. The incumbent will provide resources, so youth have access to information and tools necessary to secure appropriate employment.
This position is telework eligible and is occasionally required to be on-site at the office. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment and may telework from anywhere in Minnesota or a neighboring state. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of experience in a customer service or administrative position supporting youth development programs, case management, career guidance or a similar role as determined by the agency
Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:
Skill in:
- The development and presentation of workshops for adult and youth career seekers, to be offered virtually and in person
- Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Work and Excel sufficient to track expenses
- Communicating sufficiently to provide career guidance and coaching to adult and youth career seekers
Ability to:
- Form and grow connections with community partners such as educational institutions, employers and supportive services to assist career seekers in gaining employment
- Develop and present workshops and trainings, both virtually and in-person
- Provide customer service sufficient to respond effectively to clients, coworkers, and customers who have questions about agency operations and procedures
