The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Competency Coordinator Team within the Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) Division of the agency.
The Competency Coordinator Supervisor oversees the provision of competency attainment education services and discharge functions specific to competency attainment for all clients with a Chapter 611 and/or Rule 20 legal status within DCT facilities. The incumbent provides supervision to Competency Coordinators. The individual in this key role serves as a lead liaison to external partners, including county human services organizations, criminal and civil court personnel, Forensic Navigator Program staff. The incumbent assists with building partnerships with community stakeholders. The incumbent works closely with treatment teams to assist with discharge planning and provides timely communication to court and other community stakeholders to assure timely discharge to the clinically indicated level of care. The individual in this role works closely with site leaders, department leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality competency attainment education is provided to individuals served.

Minimum Qualifications
The incumbent must hold a current license to practice as a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Minnesota and have two (2) years of post-bachelor’s degree experience providing behavioral health services OR hold graduate degree at the Master’s or Doctoral level in Social Work (i.e. MSW, MSSW, PhD, DSW, or equivalent) from an academic institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, hold a current license to practice as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker, Licensed Independent Social Worker, or a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work and have at least two (2) years of post-graduate experience in providing behavioral health services.
AND
2 years professional work experience, to include reading and interpreting court orders related to orders of incompetency, under MN statute 611 and/or MN rules of criminal procedure Rule 20.

- Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Experience working with court partners in a liaison role.
