This position will manage the design of transportation construction projects, coordinate the development of scoping documents, environmental documentation, geometric layouts, detailed construction plans, supplemental documents, supervise design activities and manage consultant services activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
- Knowledge of scoping documents, environmental documentation, design concepts, geometric layouts, construction, plan content and organization related to the development and design of highway transportation projects.
- Experience using Windows based operating systems, spreadsheet and word-processing software applications.
- Project Design Supervision/management skills sufficient to lead and train staff in managing design workload, scope and schedule.
- Oral and written communication skills sufficient to clearly and concisely communicate information to customers, stakeholders and occasionally the public.
- Human relations skills sufficient to build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external partners.
- Experience using OpenRoads Designer (ORD) - 3D corridor modeling or related design and project management software.
- Experience using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Knowledge of MnDOT policies, procedures, TPDP (HPDP), ADA requirements, Geometric Design Standards, MnDOT Specifications and the Metro District Sample Plan, as well as State and Federal statute and regulatory requirements.
