The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is hiring Engineering Trainees for our Graduate Engineer & Land Surveyor Program in district offices throughout the state of Minnesota including:
- Baxter/St. Cloud
- Bemidji/Crookston
- Detroit Lakes
- Duluth/Virginia
- Mankato
- Rochester/Owatonna
- Twin Cities Metro Area
- Willmar/Marshall
We also have positions available in the specialty offices, including:
- Bridge Office - Oakdale
- Materials & Road Research Lab - Maplewood
- Office of Land Management
- Project Management & Technical Support
- Traffic
The Graduate Engineer Program gives entry-level engineers a well-rounded experience and exposure to civil and transportation engineering at MnDOT. Trainees participate in the Grad Program for up to two years, gaining professional experience by completing three- to six-month rotations through various functional areas. Trainees receive structured mentorship, continuous training opportunities, and a support network of professional engineers engaged in their training and growth. Upon program completion, Trainees are assigned a permanent position at MnDOT and promoted to Graduate Engineer 2.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered, candidates must have:
- Possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil, Construction, Environmental, Geo-, Structural, or closely related engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university or its equivalency or be in the final year of completing a bachelor's degree in the majors listed above*
- Maintained a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
- A valid class D driver's license
*Offers of employment are contingent on the candidate confirming an engineering degree before the position's start date.
