The MN Veterans Home – Fergus Falls is located in west central MN, approximately 60 miles southeast of Fargo, MN, set among rolling hills and clear lakes, and has a history of providing exceptional skilled nursing care for over 25 years. The Veterans Home provides a friendly, small-town environment for residents, their families, and staff. The Veterans Home is award winning and a current 5-star facility, with a long history of providing high quality care and a strong and committed staff. The facility has been the recipient of US News and World Report Best Nursing Home in US for several years in a row.
The Veterans Home is part of the MN Department of Veterans Affairs – Healthcare Division, working in collaboration with a total of 8 Veterans Homes throughout the state of MN, committed to serving our nation’s heroes. The MN Veterans Homes uniquely need to meet the requirements of both the MN Department of Health, Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services, and the federal Department of Veterans Affairs State Veterans Home Program, while also serving as part of a state of MN cabinet agency.

The responsibilities of this position include:
- Ensure quality of care is provided to all residents of the home by meeting or exceeding established standards of the MN Department of Health, federal Department of Veterans Affairs, and other regulatory agencies/requirements.
- Lead and direct the home's management team so the agency’s mission and vision are fulfilled and the home provides fiscally responsible and quality services.
- Effectively manage and exercise supervisory authority so that applicable collective bargaining agreements and plans are equitably administered, and employees effectively perform assigned job duties and are safe, challenged, rewarded, and positively accomplish the agency mission within assigned departments.
- Effectively manage the fiscal operations of the home.
- Maintain strong relationships with constituents of the Minnesota Veterans Homes so that the local community understands the Agency's perspective, needs, requirements, etc.

Licensure/Experience Requirements*
- An active and in good standing Nursing Home Administrator license from any state and must have the ability to obtain a license in MN with the MN Board of Executives for Long Term Services and Supports (MN BELTTS) by date of hire.
- Five years of experience in a healthcare leadership role, including at least two years of experience as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. To qualify, your experience must include managing human and fiscal resources and quality assurance functions/program.
- Experience and skills in budget development and administration, including analyzing financial reports.

- Strong human relations skills sufficient to effectively direct, guide, influence and supervise several supervisors and professional-level staff in various professions and work units
- Communications and presentation skills sufficient to communicate effectively with others and prepare and present information to various individuals and groups
- Project management skills sufficient to oversee and complete multiple, competing projects including capital development projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage healthcare and related operations and fill gaps in service when faced with staffing and/or budgetary challenges
- Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
- Master's or higher-level degree in a job-related program
- Three or more years of experience as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator
- Leadership experience in a union environment
- Experiences working effectively with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures
- Knowledge of VA benefits including Home and Community Based Services (HCBS)
- Ability to effectively recruit healthcare staff
- Knowledge of the unique healthcare needs of Veterans
- Written confirmation from the MN BELTTS confirming eligibility for a MN license to serve as a Nursing Home Administrator will be required for those with an out of state license.
