JOB TITLE : Evaluation Data Collector

LOCATION : History Center - 345 W Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55102
COMPENSATION : Typical starting range $19.10 - $20.56 hourly
STATUS & HOURS : Part-time, regular position (approximately 780 annual hours). Must be able to work 10-20 hours per week on a flexible schedule as projects require. Must be able to collect data for a maximum of three hours at a time including weekdays and weekends
BENEFITS : Eligible to participate in a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals.

DESCRIPTION : The purpose of the position is to provide evaluation and research support for data collection activities at historic sites and museums. Tasks may include conducting visitor intercept interviews, observations, assisting in data entry and coding, supporting focus groups, and doing other data collection activities as needed following specific evaluation protocols and methodology. The Evaluation Data Collector will work independently and cooperatively with supervisory, evaluation and site staff as well as with museum visitors.
SUMMARY OF WORK : 1) Perform initial meetings with survey participants; 2) Conduct visitor intercept surveys, interviews and / or observations according to study guidelines; 3) Provide feedback to supervisors to improve and refine the efficiency and effectiveness of procedures and techniques used to obtain completed surveys, interviews and / or observations; and 4) Support program and evaluation department goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Friendly, outgoing, service-oriented.
- Must be detail-oriented, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent listening skills.
- Interest in talking to people of all ages about various topics.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Able to put people at ease and maintain clear, positive communication in sometimes chaotic surroundings.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow data collection protocols systematically, without deviation.
- Must have legible handwriting.
- Basic familiarity with iPad or other electronic tablet use, OR interest in learning the basics.
- Able to collect data for a minimum of three hours at a time.
- Must be able to work cooperatively as a team member, working toward a goal that is often difficult to achieve.
- Valid Drivers license.
- Willingness to travel to multiple sites around the state.
