JOB TITLE : Volunteer Programs Manager
LOCATION : History Center - 345 W Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55102
COMPENSATION : Typical starting range $68,960.00 - $86,200.00 annually
STATUS & HOURS : Full-time, regular (approximately 2,080 annual hours) position.
BENEFITS : Eligible to participate in State Employee Group Insurance Program and a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals with additional paid holidays.

DESCRIPTION : This position exists to provide management and leadership to the MNHS volunteer program in order to engage the people of Minnesota in opportunities that enhance the mission of the organization.
SUMMARY OF WORK : 1) Provide vision and leadership for the volunteer program to align strategy, goals, processes and results with the MNHS mission; 2) Manage oversight and implement the operations of the volunteer programs to sustain a high level of performance and productivity; 3) Provide direct supervision to staff; and 4) Represent the MNHS Volunteer program both externally and internally.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent applicable work experience.
Five years managing a volunteer program.
Supervisory experience.
Demonstrated leadership ability in the field of volunteerism, including knowledge of current trends and issues in volunteerism.
Effective administration skills to plan, develop, organize, and manage systems and multifaceted projects within a complex institution.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to maintain productive working relationships.
Ability to establish and manage competing priorities.
Knowledge of the basic principles of volunteers and personnel management as related to recruitment, selection, placement, training, supervision, and motivation of staff and volunteers.
Knowledge of the basic principles of organization, public relations, marketing, and administration.
Computer knowledge sufficient to maintain a database and keep computer systems current.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including conflict resolution.
Ability to write clearly and accurately.
Strong public speaking skills.
Strong training skills appropriate to volunteer training.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Knowledge of federal and state legislation that affects volunteer operation. Knowledge of federal and state laws related to volunteerism and risk management, payroll, minimum wage practices, child labor laws, volunteer protection act, Fair Labor Standards Act and Worker’s Compensation.
General understanding of MNHS and its programs.
Experience working with a large scale volunteer programs in excess of 500 participants.
