- 8.5 hour shift (with a 30 minute lunch) between the hours of 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Job Summary
The Advisor provides services, develops personalized plans, and coordinates resources that align with MICC’s mission. They advocate for participants, monitor progress, maintain documentation, and family communication, ensuring optimal outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop individualized service plans in collaboration with participants, incorporating input from interdisciplinary team members, instructors, job developers, and community partners.
- Coordinate access to resources, therapeutic services, and community support programs to facilitate participants' personal, vocational, and academic development.
- Advocate for participants' rights and needs within the organization, government agencies, and community organizations to ensure access to appropriate services and accommodations.
- Monitor participants’ progress towards goals, regularly reassessing needs and modifying service plans to promote optimal outcomes.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to participants and their families, addressing challenges, problem-solving, and building self-advocacy skills.
- Ensure medication monitoring when appropriate, including accurate documentation, support prescription refills and pill box maintenance, and collaborate with participants and families to address medication independence barriers.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders, including instructors, healthcare providers, social workers, and vocational counselors/job developers, to ensure coordinated care and services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records, progress notes, and service plans in compliance with MICC policies.
- Complete annual program training and certifications, such as medication oversight, CPR, mandated reporting, and bloodborne pathogen training.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities within the community, promoting inclusivity, accessibility, and equal opportunities.
- Demonstrate flexibility in schedule and responsibilities to provide support and coverage across various aspects of program delivery as needed.
- Stay abreast of developments in disability services, attend relevant training and professional development opportunities, and apply new knowledge and best practices in service delivery.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other departmental positions.

Education & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Social/Human Sciences (Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health, Behavior Therapy, Special Education) or a related field is required.
- 2 years of experience mentoring and/or supporting individuals with ASD or other learning disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge and skills to support and/or refer those with mental health concerns is preferred.
- MA in Counseling or Social Work, and/or knowledge of county waivers or case management experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
- Ability to drive small vehicles and 15-passenger vans.

- 80 hours / 10 days (holiday schedule available upon request) of paid holidays
- 8 hours / 1 day for floating holiday
