We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician to join our team at Minnesota Industrial Coatings. The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that quality systems are effectively maintained and continuously improved to meet company and customer standards. This role involves verifying product conformance to specifications, developing preventive measures for nonconforming products, and driving initiatives to uphold quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with production teams to verify that all products meet established quality requirements and specifications.
Analyze data and information objectively, making decisions that align with the best interests of the company and its customers.
Actively support, promote, and reinforce the principles of the Quality Management System (QMS).
Create, document, and continuously improve inspection plans, quality training programs, and process knowledge, including Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), Engineering Change Requests (ECR), and document control (DOC).
Generate and distribute monthly and annual metrics reports, ensuring timely and accurate updates as needed.
Provide comprehensive training on the Quality Management System and the use of inspection tools and equipment.
Ensure that no non-conforming materials pass through the receiving inspection process.
Develop and maintain accurate Faro Arm programming, when applicable, to support inspection processes.
Prepare professional and compliant inspection documentation based on customer-specific inspection plans.
Address and resolve non-conforming materials in the Quality Hold area within a 24-hour timeframe.
Monitor and manage calibration certifications, striving for zero deficiencies during Quality Management System audits.
Maintain inspection equipment and ensure all measurement tools are properly calibrated and in excellent working condition.
Assist in measuring in-process production parts and conducting random quality checks to ensure adherence to specifications.
Promote and uphold quality objectives across the organization, ensuring that all parts meet design and print requirements.
Provide additional support to the quality department and assist with special projects as directed by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Quality Control
High school diploma or equivalent
Standards knowledge ISO, AS9100, ITAR, DoD
Working knowledge of inspection techniques and philosophies
Basic understanding of GD&T
Skills and Competencies
Process auditing experience strongly preferred
Background in manufacturing and manufacturing procedures
Process and procedural writing techniques
Communication skills verbal, written, interpersonal
Strong computer skills and software knowledge
Ability to prioritize effectively
Physical Requirements
Lift document storage boxes up to 25 lbs. occasionally
Ability to stand for up to 10 hours
Excellent hand/eye coordination
Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools
Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
Consistently wear personal protective equipment
Sitting for extended periods of time
Regular use of telephone and email for communication
