This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

MNIT's IT trainee program is designed to train individuals for approximately six (6) months on the skills required to succeed in a permanent position with us. Upon successfully passing the training requirements, the trainees are moved into a permanent Information Technology Specialist 1 role where they will utilize the skills they have developed and continue to learn and grow into the role.

As a Trainee with Minnesota IT Services partnering with the Department of Human Services (MNIT DHS), your training program will consist of introductory sessions in Information Technology topics including:

• Professionalism, Teamwork, and Communications
• Orientation to DHS, MNsure, MNIT DHS/MNsure
• Overview of the Emerging Technology
• AWS Cloud Part 1 – Texting
• AWS Cloud Part 2 – Call Center
• Azure Cloud Part 1 – AI
• Azure Cloud Part 2 – Container, ARO
  
  

This position requires an employee to be onsite with the option to telework occasionally.

Minimum Qualifications

• Critical thinking and analytical skills sufficient to complete program modules.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of formats with internal and external customers.
• Proficient with computers and programs including word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and email.
• Demonstration of completion of some IT development-based training.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications or completed course work in IT Development.
• Demonstration of completion of some IT development-based training.
• Experience with Java platform (source code, tools, etc.) and basic Cloud technologies.
• Associate/ Bachelor’s degree in IT.
