About the Opportunity
The Minnesota Jewish Community Center is hiring a Human Resources Generalist to join our organization. The Human Resources / Payroll Assistant is responsible for assisting and executing payroll and other human resource functions of the Minnesota JCC. The overall functions include processing semi-monthly payroll, posting and managing job requisitions in our HRIS system, and assisting with the generation of necessary reports to conduct benefit and retirement plan census and other reports and documentation as requested. The HR / Payroll Assistant also assists with maintaining records and personnel files and other special projects. This is a part-time non-exempt position at 20 hours / week.
Essential Functions
- Accurately prepare and process semi-monthly payroll.
- Ensure W-2s, state tax forms, and I'9's have been processed prior to payroll deadlines.
- Conduct audits of timesheets, time off requests, and time reporting deadlines.
- Calculate termination payments, adjustments, special pays, retroactive pay and overpayment of wages in compliance with federal and state laws.
- Assist with posting job requisitions in our HRIS System
- Asist with processing and maintaining all employee record keeping and personnel files, ensuring personnel transactions are processed accurately and timely in our CHR information management system and other personnel records.
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as the Minnesota JCC's personnel policies and procedures.
- Assist with pre-employment background checks, verification processes, and enrollment / auditing of required employee training.
- Assist employees with questions and concerns related to payroll, benefits, leaves of absence, personnel changes, and other HR questions.
- Ensure payroll codes for new hires aligns with budgeted department.
- Coordinate and ensure timely production and distribution of year-end reporting (W-2, ACA,1095s, etc).
- Assist with open enrollment and peak season hiring.
- Provide clear and timely communication on HR related matters to the HR Generalist and Chief Administrative Officer.
- Execute HR actions as directed by the HR Generalist, Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Executive Officer.
- Assist the HR Generalist and Chief Administrative Officer as needed.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate with others. In the office setting, this is primarily a sedentary role, which requires the employee to sit at a desk for consecutive hours at a time using a computer or other office equipment or standing while scanning / copying documents. Additional physical requirements include lifting and moving file boxes and other items up to 25 lbs., occasional bending, crouching, and reaching.

Work Environment
The work environment consists of a dedicated office space at the Saint Paul location and shared flex spaces at the Minneapolis location. Working conditions may include regular interruptions and meetings. Employee is expected to work 5 days per week at the Saint Paul location and at the Minneapolis location as needed.
