About the Opportunity
Camp Specialists are talented people who share their special skills or expertise in their program area with the camp community by planning and leading camp programming. The Music Specialist will be responsible for creating exciting, age-appropriate, safe, and welcoming music programming for all campers at camp. The specialist will complete program forms detailing the music activities they will be running each week with the campers. They will be responsible for submitting supplies requests, maintaining camp equipment used as part of programming, and engaging the campers and staff in all planned activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for being conscious of and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of all campers in any area or programs at camp.
- Plan and lead fun and exciting activity rotations with a creative focus on the specialty content area, for campers of a variety of ages, with a goal of inspiring campers to try new things and/or grow skills and interests.
- Outline area programs for the week, specifying activities for each age group and skills to be taught at their developmental level. Responsible for recording planning on weekly lesson plan sheets.
- In addition to regularly scheduled camp days, attends and contributes to pre-camp training sessions, regularly scheduled staff meetings and training sessions once camp is in session. Participates in the open house and any family events.
- Responsible for maintenance of assigned area and any equipment. Keeping inventory of equipment and requesting supplies as needed.
- In conjunction with other specialists and senior camp staff, design and implement All Camp weekly and specialty programs based on the weekly themes.
- Promote safety within your area, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Other tasks as assigned by the camp leaders.
