The Ninth Judicial District is seeking to fill a Court Operations Associate position within Red Lake County Court Administration.
In this fast-paced and detail-oriented role, you will be responsible for processing cases and assisting court customers and justice partners in order to provide justice through a system that assures equal access for the fair and timely resolution of cases and controversies.
This AFSCME-represented position is classified as a Court Operations Associate. Work is completed individually and in teams using independent judgment along with available resources to perform a variety of administrative assignments that requires dedication to providing excellent customer service, strong attention to detail, and technological skills to match our fast-paced, high volume, electronic environment.
Example of Duties - What You Will Do
The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:
- Perform the full range of court operation work that may involve responsibility for a specific area of court case processing
- Perform a variety of advanced clerical functions and multiple case types
- Provide assistance to attorneys, parties, self-represented litigants, judges, and the public by responding to a variety of questions in-person, over the phone, by mail, and/or electronically
- Provide courtroom support by working with judges, court reporters, and other justice partners
- Review, enter, record, and update case information using an electronic case processing system and related applications and equipment
- Schedule and maintain court calendars
- Receive, process, and receipt payments due to the court
- Attend court and assist by calling cases, taking notes, and handling documents in the courtroom
- May perform the duties of an Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO) including recording and monitoring court proceedings

- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work
- Experience providing customer service
Preferred Qualifications - Nice to Have
- Certificate or degree in a related field
- Considerable knowledge of court procedures, policies, and records management
- Experience working with the court's electronic case processing system
- Experience providing customer service
- Understanding of principles and practices of court proceedings, with an emphasis on applicable statutes, rules, and ordinances
- Ability to write job procedures and develop training materials in order to provide technical and procedural training to staff
- Ability to organize workflow and meet deadlines, plan and coordinate the daily work of other employees engaged in a variety of activities
- Ability to be flexible in changes with workload, job assignments, new procedures, different computer systems, court trends, and priorities
- Excellent listening, multitasking and customer service skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing
- Skill in organization, planning, and follow through

- Ability to learn rules of court, state statutes, case processing, policies, and procedures of the area of court assigned

- Ability to provide exceptional customer service while working under pressure in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Skill in the operation of a personal computer, including electronic case management system and related applications and equipment
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies, and statutes
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Well organized, detail oriented, and analytical
Supplemental Information
The hours for this position will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; hours may vary depending on business needs.
The expected starting salary for external candidates is $19.83 per hour and midpoint of the salary range, depending on qualifications. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits .
