What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jud Human Resources Coordin position at Minnesota Judicial Branch?
The Seventh and Eighth Judicial District Human Resources team is seeking to fill a full-time Human Resources Coordinator position. This position works with the Human Resources team for the 7th and 8th Judicial Districts. The purpose of this position is to provide and coordinate human resources functions such as recruitment and selection, onboarding, employee benefits programs, workers compensation, leave management, and personnel changes.
The Seventh Judicial District is composed of ten counties including Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd and Wadena. The District has a total of 31 judicial officers and approximately 231 employees. The Eighth Judicial District is composed of thirteen counties including Big Stone, Chippewa, Grant, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, Meeker, Pope, Renville, Stevens, Swift, Traverse, Wilkin and Yellow Medicine. The District has a total of 11judicial officers and approximately 73 employees.
Example of Duties:
- Coordinates recruitment and selection activities for all 7th and 8th District positions.
- Consults with hiring supervisors to determine the proper classification, minimum qualifications, selection criteria, and interview questions. Participates on interview panel when requested.
- Coordinates background checks, job offer letters, and new hire paperwork.
- Coordinates employee benefit programs. Answers questions and serves as a liaison between SEGIP and the employee.
- Coordinates open enrollment activities; participates in training, disseminates information, etc.
- Prepares new employee benefits information.
- Coordinates employee retirement process. Schedules meetings, provides information, answers questions, prepares correspondence, reviews and submits forms, etc.
- Coordinate employee leaves of absence including FMLA.
- Advises agency staff, supervisors and administration on human resources policies and procedures. Researches applicable employment laws and/or labor union contracts and provides guidance and/or advice in accordance with all applicable labor laws, rules, contracts, and guidelines.
- Leads or participates in district and state-wide initiatives and workgroups focusing on human resources related topics.
- Maintains employee personnel and medical files.
- Responds to employment verification requests.
- Process outside employment requests.
- Process worker compensation claims. Assist with employee education, training and development activities. Assist in the facilitation of new employee orientation and judicial orientation programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, industrial and organizational psychology,
organizational management, public administration or related field and some experience in a human resources and/or court
office OR some related college coursework with considerable experience working in human resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of human resources laws, practices, procedures.
Knowledge of labor relations laws and practices.
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels within the organization and external stakeholders.
- Ability to present information to groups.
- Strong proofreading, editing, and formatting skills.
- Resilient, with the ability to handle a high-volume workload from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated follow-up skills with outstanding attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel to other court locations and St. Paul as necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS : Work is performed primarily in an office setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is essentially sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying items under
25 pounds such as papers and files.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS ACRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.
Current judicial branch employees must have satisfactory performance in all competencies in their most recent
performance evaluation and no discipline above an oral reprimand in the preceding 6 months.
