Position is full-time & salaried, with an expectation of no less than 40 hours/week.
Summary: Apprentice Service Technicians assist Biomedical Service Technicians in the performance of field service duties. Scope of position includes emphasis on training and familiarization with assigned tools and equipment, diagnosis and troubleshooting of devices for repair and maintenance, and assigned tasks of repair shop and test lab organization, inventory stocking, and assigned additional duties. Apprentice Service Technicians will train and shadow with Biomedical Service Technicians to learn techniques and procedures for maintaining, repairing, calibrating, servicing and installing biomedical equipment of the following types: mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, controlling, monitoring and recording.
Duties & Requirements:
· Develop skills to assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, align, and calibrate medical equipment.
· Train with steam & water systems, soldering, plumbing, and welding.
· Develop working knowledge circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, and electrical systems.
· Learn to monitor and plan out preventive maintenance programs.
· Assist in organization and stocking of parts, tools and equipment inventories.
· Learn to render technical advice and assistance to customers as required.
· Assist with delivery, setup, installation and training/familiarization of new equipment for customers
· Learn to accurately document work conducted, and log times and materials for services.
· Conduct on-site and virtual training with partnered OEMs and vendors.
· Develop and train on utilizing digital field service systems.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
· Must be able to work with and communicate with technical experts, healthcare professionals/managers, and OEM representatives.
· Must be dedicated to on-the-job and formal training requirements.
· Must be willing to travel to perform on-site repairs, occasional overnight/multiday visits possible.
· Must be self-directed and able to exercise sound judgment and problem solving.
· Able to promptly respond to customer inquiries and needs, both on-the-job and remotely.
· Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records.
· Solves problems, documents procedures and repair plans.
Education and Experience: Certificate(s) from trade/technical school or similar programs (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, biomedical, etc.) preferred. Two years of on-the-job experience in the field services/repair, and/or healthcare/biomedical equipment manufacturing industry preferred. High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Able to follow and retain training guidance and equipment manuals.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current driver’s license valid for the state of residence is required. BMET, CBET, BIET, CETa/CET, and/or biomedical device OEM repair and service certifications preferred. Ability to work on-site at customer healthcare facilities and meet customer safety and documentation needs required.
General Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. General Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving parts, cold, heat and risk of electrical shock. Additional Expectations & Factors:
· Initial on-the-job training period of no less than 90 days to be provided by the hiring company.
· Employees will be fully salaried during this training period.
· Company will provide computer and field service tablet for remote work.
· Company will provide monthly stiped to offset cell phone bill for work-related calls.
· Company will provide a full set of necessary tools and equipment.
· Company will provide job-by-job mileage payments for use of personally owned vehicle.
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
