Position Overview:

MMHC is seeking a passionate clinician for an assessment-focused post-doctoral fellowship. If you thrive on understanding clients’ unique experiences and making accurate diagnoses, this role is for you. We seek an innovator and lifelong learner dedicated to providing high-quality care. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, collaborating with clients, integrating testing results into treatment plans, and establishing a practice that allows for follow up care post testing. You’ll also gain supervisory experience with practicum students and engage in didactic training and development. We also provide dedicated time each week for studying for the licensing exam.

This full-time, one-year fellowship includes 2,000 training hours to support licensure in Minnesota. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills for a successful career as a psychologist in an area of community need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessments via telehealth and/or in person to ages 6 .
  • Supervision of practicum students.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations, including diagnostic interviews and the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of various assessments for clients of different age ranges.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure a personalized testing experience, leveraging their self-knowledge and the clinician’s expertise, and clarifying common language as needed.
  • Approach diagnosis holistically, considering the client’s entire life context and the impact of various life circumstances.
  • Clearly explain assessment results to clients, ensuring they are informed and engaged in their care.
  • Establish a practice that includes follow-up sessions to help clients understand treatment recommendations, support initial intervention steps, and facilitate a warm transfer to long-term providers, integrating assessment results into comprehensive treatment planning.
  • Contribute to developing best practices and new approaches to psychological assessment, making assessments affordable and accessible.
  • Contribute and participate in didactic training for practicum students.
  • Complete documentation with a focus on quality and compliance in a timely manner.
  • Engage in peer consultation as a collaborative element of the testing process.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.).
  • Desire to be licensed as a Psychologist in the state of Minnesota.
  • Good standing with professional program.
  • Strong interest for psychological assessment and diagnosis.
  • Experience providing psychological assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-centered approach.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for providing high-quality, impactful care to clients.
  • Computer skills including using Microsoft Office products and healthcare software.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology and software.

Your Skills & Expertise:

  • Ability to build rapport and trust with clients while being confident in your expertise.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine passion for providing quality mental health care.
  • Incorporating family systems (where fitting) into the data collection and feedback process to support long-term understanding on testing results, treatment planning, parenting/guardian interventions and support.
  • Experience with diagnosing and creating objective treatment plans.
  • Experience with developing evidence-based batteries for a variety of referral questions, including but not limited to ADHD, ASD, personality, and cognitive assessment.
  • Observation and understanding of clients’ readiness for treatment and tailoring treatment plans to fit clients’ abilities and needs (including guardians in the process).
  • Natural curiosity with a desire for continuous learning and sharing expertise with others.
  • Non-judgmental mindset in communication and interactions with clients and others.
  • Friendly and supportive to co-workers with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Self-motivation with strong time-management and organizational skills.
