Position Information:

  • Start Date: June 9, 2025 – June 8, 2026
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: St. Paul, MN (Hybrid)
  • Pay: $20/hour - $23/hour (salary will be based on individual's education and/or relevant experience)

Fellow, Archive:

As the Archive Fellow, you will have a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience with archives and the record life cycle with local content. More than a digital preservation role, you'll actively shape public access to Minnesota Public Radio’s rich local content by creating compelling online exhibits and managing our engaging social media channels. Utilizing Instagram and TikTok to encourage new audiences to think about history, archives, and public media in new and interesting ways. Work across teams and departments to support the entire organization by preserving and promoting content that educates and inspires communities. This cross-functional position offers early career archivists invaluable exposure to every facet of the record lifecycle, from hands-on archiving best practices to public-facing creative content that brings archives to the people in new and impactful ways.


Key Learning Goals:

The goal of this fellowship is to provide immersive learning and real-world experience through impactful work. By the end of your fellowship, you will be able to:

  • Digital archiving and preservation, especially with audiovisual content
  • Marketing and outreach of archives and collections
  • Working, communicating, and coordinating across organizational departments and functions
  • Archival processing, arrangement, description, and access across a wide range of collection materials both physical and digital, and both internal and external access points

Responsibilities:

As our Archive Fellow, you will engage in hands-on tasks, including:

  • Assist with and lead digital archiving work of current content across APMG brands on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Archive outreach work, including curating digital collections, creating and publishing content to Archive social media channels, assisting with Archive reference requests, and other special projects.
  • Special archive projects, including but not limited to processing new collections (physical and digital), identifying and acquiring content for collection gaps, participating in organization-wide committees and groups, archiving backlog content, and researching and developing standard operating procedures.

  • Participate in robust on-boarding experience

  • Participate in brown bag sessions to gain broader perspective of the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Completed undergraduate degree and have 2 years of relevant professional experience, OR have completed a graduate degree, OR equivalent 3-5 professional experience
  • Advanced computer proficiency
  • Detail-oriented and committed to thorough and attentive work
  • Commitment to incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into daily work
  • Experience with archives and archival collections
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Cataloging and metadata knowledge or experience
  • Ability to work as a team and independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Digital preservation experience or interest
  • Digital outreach and/or social media content creation
