Job Summary
The DNR is seeking to fill a permanent, full-time Office and Administrative Specialist Intermediate position. Days of work are
Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This position provides critical office and business management functions to include administrative and clerical services and
complex fiscal functions for the Two Harbors Area Parks & Trails Office. This position monitors and assists in the management
of a variety of budgets, State Grant in Aid Programs, and Divisional Parks and Trails Operations. As a lead worker this position

provides technical advice and work guidance to other area staff.
This position also assists with the management of receptionist and clerical duties, shared office equipment technical support,
building coordination efforts and resource responsibility for the Two Harbors Co-located Building.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage all budget and fiscal activities including purchases, revenue collection, employee business expenses,
and state credit card purchases for the Two Harbors Parks & Trails/North Shore Area Operations.
Perform a variety of fiscal & budgetary duties.
Prepare and process all Grant-In-Aid agreements for Parks & Trails/North Shore Area Operations so that all
Snowmobile. ATV, & Cross-Country Ski grants are properly encumbered, processed accurately, and paid in a
timely manner.
Perform a variety of administrative assistant/office manager duties for the Parks & Trails Two Harbors/North
Shore Area Operation and for the Two Harbors Co-located Office, so that all office functions are carried out in an
efficient manner, and handle correspondence of the Area office between the public, NE Region, Central Office,
other regions, and other divisions and agencies so all business and communication obligations are met.
To serve as lead worker for Area Parks & Trails staff so that the area Trails office is kept current on program
changes, training and updates and operate in a compliance with all policies and procedures.
Continually expand knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures and new techniques and equipment
that will aid in improving efficiency and employee development.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of accounting functions to maintain budgets, pay invoices and track expenses.
Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review, and reconcile data and balance accounts.
Word processing, typing or keyboarding skills sufficient to type narrative and numerical documents efficiently with
proper grammar and spelling.
Business English, spelling and grammar sufficient to proofread materials and to ensure the accuracy and
completeness of written materials.
Basic data entry ability and database management/spreadsheet software skills to record budget data and
maintain accurate budget records and reports.
Customer service and communication skills to provide information to the public and other employees effectively
and courteously in person, by phone calls, and email.
File management skills sufficient to ensure document retrieval in an efficient and accurate manner.
Skill in using record keeping systems sufficient to maintain administrative and fiscal data and to prepare reports.
Knowledge of general office equipment and procedures such as basic math, typing, data entry and related
functions.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of clerical experience providing a variety of office services for staff.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel, Word, and ADOBE software to compile, manipulate,
store, and retrieve data.
Knowledge of State of Minnesota or/and Department of Natural Resources programs, policies, and systems.
Experience in accounting, fiscal budgets, or state accounting procedures and software.
Experience retrieving, archiving, and converting documents and electronic materials of different formats.

Organizational skills sufficient to prioritize a diverse workload and adjust to changing priorities.
Knowledge of the State Wide Integrated Financial Tool (SWIFT).
Additional Requirements
This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver’s license with a clear driving record.
