Position Summary : The Superintendent serves as the chief executive officer of the district, responsible for the effective operation of all educational and administrative aspects. This role entails implementing board policies, managing district resources, and providing visionary leadership to promote student achievement, staff development, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Vision of Learning :

Promotes the success of all students facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

  • In collaboration with others, uses appropriate data to establish rigorous, concrete goals in the context of student achievement and instructional programs.
  • Uses research-based practices in improving the educational program.
  • Articulates and promotes high expectations for teaching and learning.
  • Aligns and implements the educational programs, plans, actions, and resources with the district's vision and goals.
  • Provides leadership for major initiatives and change efforts.
  • Communicates effectively to various stakeholders regarding progress with school improvement plan goals.
  • Instructional Leadership :
  • Champion innovative instructional strategies to inspire district leaders and educators.

  • Oversee curriculum development and implementation to ensure a challenging and supportive learning environment.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to close achievement gaps and promote a love of learning among students.
  • Budget and Financial Management :
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by adhering to board-adopted parameters and leading efforts for operating levies.

  • Address budget concerns proactively, ensuring financial stability and resource optimization.
  • Staffing and Human Resources :
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance staff and administrative leadership retention, address shortages, and boost staff morale.

  • Foster professional growth opportunities for all staff members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Equity and Diversity :
  • Ensure and uphold a fair, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, with particular attention to those from diverse backgrounds, those facing socio-economic challenges, and those with special needs.

  • Implement policies and practices that promote diversity and inclusion throughout the district.
  • Community Engagement and Trust :
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, parents, and community members.

  • Enhance community engagement through transparent communication and active participation in community events.
  • Communication and Media Relations :
  • Exhibit clear and transparent communication skills, both internally and externally.

  • Navigate social media and traditional media platforms effectively to promote district initiatives and foster partnerships.
  • Career Pathways Development :
  • Strengthen and expand career pathways to ensure students are college and career-ready.

  • Collaborate with local businesses and higher education institutions to provide students with diverse opportunities.
  • Qualifications :

  • A Specialist Degree in school administration or educational leadership or a doctorate degree in educational leadership.
  • A valid Minnesota Superintendent's License
  • Three years experience in teaching and four years experience in school level administration required, two years district-level preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing diverse and inclusive educational environments.
  • Proven track record of effective fiscal management and resource allocation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff, students, parents / guardians, and the community.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of equity, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Rate of Pay :

    Exempt / / $170,000 - $210,000
