Job Description
The purpose of this position is direct and manage multiple state aid programs, including interpreting federal and state regulations, determining applicant eligibility and awarding aid, program assessment and reconciliation, and reviewing administrative processes for efficiency and effectiveness. This position is directly responsible for state aid program funds and fiscal responsibility which requires a high level of authority and independence. The individual in this role will be an expert on our ISRS data tracking system for financial aid applications, including extensive knowledge of all edits necessary to review students’ financial aid applications from receipt to awarding. The individual in this position will assist with processing federal and private student/parent loans during high volume times for our department and on an as-needed basis. This position is empowered to research, analyze, and respond to complex student data, determine resolution of student cases based on independent judgment or internal consultation as needed, and create, update, and implement procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of two(2)years of full-time work experience in student financial aid or related technical, highly audited and regulated environment OR the equivalent of two (2) years of combined education and full-time work experience. Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience; Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associate’s degree may substitute for six months of experience.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills needed to interact with courtesy,respect,and professionalism with individuals of varying educational levels and diverse backgrounds to provide positive experience working with the Financial Aid and Scholarships office.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills sufficient to participate in discussions, create policy and procedure documents and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Work experience that demonstrates strong attention to detail sufficient to analyze applications,data, and numbers to avoid errors and ensure accuracy in one’s own work and in the work of others.
Preferred Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in student financial aid or related technical, highly audited and regulated environment.
- Experience working with Integrated Student Records System (ISRS), Document Imaging Systems and/or workflows, the Department of Education’s NSLDS and COD systems, and the Minnesota Office of Higher Education’s MN Aid system.
- Experience analyzing data and using results to inform/create policies and procedures for administration of aid programs.
- Knowledge of financial aid programs and administration sufficient to interpret, understand, and explain complex State and Federal regulations governing financial aid programs to students, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to fully utilize multiple complex and varied technology systems with little or no supervision.
