Job Description

Dakota County Technical College seeks an Unlimited Full-Time instructor to teach in the Information Systems Technology Careers program that is dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. Duties Include :

Teach several Software Development and fundamentals courses within the Information Systems Technology Careers (ITSC) program.

Instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to, instructional planning, curriculum development, student evaluation and records, student recruitment and retention, student advising and placement, classroom / climate preparation and management, interpersonal relations, promote safety in all aspects of program activities, purchase supplies and equipment, participate in professional development experiences, work as an effective team member of the department, maintenance of professional skills and credentials, and participate on college committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

  • Associate degree in a computer or information technology field.
  • Occupational Experience Requirement

  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in computer programming.
  • Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Preferred Qualification

    Knowledge of C#, Java, JavaScript,HTML,CSS, andSQLprogramming languages

    Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle including analysis and design.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

    Higher education teaching experience with a diverse student population

    Experience with learning communities or team teaching

    Experience in curriculum development

    Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery, including on-line instruction

    Experience developing and using student-centered, active and experiential learning strategies

    Experience integrating cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction

    Experience assessing student academic achievement of campus-wide and classroom learning outcomes
