What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sample Preparation Technician/Laboratory Technician position at Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories, Inc.?
The Sample Preparation Technician / Laboratory Technician is responsible for the preparation of coal, soil, wood product, pellet, tire, refuse derived fuel, and miscellaneous samples following ASTM methodology. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of hammermill crushers, pulverizers, Wylie mills, and other grinding equipment, as well as the Hardgrove grindability tester and ro-tap shaker. Must wear a dust mask along with eye and ear protection during sample preparation. Must be able to lift 60 pounds approximately five feet off the ground. Cleans and maintains the sample preparation area and is responsible for organization and disposal of samples.
Responsible for soil analysis including pH, conductivity, texture, saturation percentage, organic matter, CCE, and extractions. Performs oil and fuel testing including flashpoint, specific gravity, density, viscosity, water & sediment, and % ash. Generates batches and enters data using our Laboratory Information Management System. Responsible for other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to multi-task effectively and possesses organizational skills along with a strong attention to detail.
