Principal Manufacturing Engineer (PCBA Experience Required) Job Summary
Minnetronix is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to lead our SMT-PCBA manufacturing process. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all related manufacturing equipment and processes required to assemble a high-quality product in a repeatable and cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Through-Hole (THT) manufacturing processes, the programming and support of automated placement systems, and solder reflow processes. You will also support product introduction and development projects and implement and support assembly processes for the SMT, selective solder, and final fabrication areas. This on-site position is in St. Paul, MN. You will report directly to the Process Development Engineering Manager.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Define, deploy and maintain printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing processes
- Debug and evaluate manufacturing results, perform yield and throughput analysis, drive improvements and provide actionable feedback for incorporation into future designs
- As necessary, analyze design of manufacturing line, drive design and validation of stencils, manufacturing fixtures, evaluate and specify equipment including but not limited to solder paste/printing/jetting, pick and place machines, reflow ovens, inspection, etc., ESD processes and procedures, component handling and tracking
- Deliver assembled, high quality PCBAs on time and within budget
- Provide PCBA manufacturing input and plans for design reviews acting as an expert in design for assembly, manufacturing, repair and rework
- Collaborate with design team to transition PCBA from development to manufacturing and works very closely to the team in defining design for assembly guidelines.
- Support selection of PCB/PCBA manufacturing partners and develop relationships that improve the analysis response, cost, agility and flexibility/ability to support multiple designs
- As required, provide on-site technical support for critical process and product issue
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, software, industrial, electrical, or other engineering discipline
- At least 5 years of experience with printed circuit board fabrication and/or printed circuit board assembly and/or printed circuit board assembly reliability
- Expert in IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, soldering processes, coatings, underfill, manufacturing test, high density designs, through hole and surface mount technologies, board stackup and pad designs, design rules and tuning manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in statistical process control, six sigma techniques, design of experiments, process capability assessment, and process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA) methodology and application thereof
- Experience in fast-paced iterative design environments within the medical device, aerospace or automotive industries.
- Experience with rigid and flex printed circuit boards
- Experience with lead free, leaded and other solders
- Demonstrated proficiency in all of the responsibilities section above
- Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
