SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
Position Summary
Minnkota Power Cooperative is seeking applicants for a System Administrator at our headquarters in Grand Forks, North Dakota. System Administrator assists in documenting, implementing, and monitoring software and hardware systems within IT infrastructure, ensuring accessibility and security of the managed systems. This role is closely directed, task-driven, and performs routine technical work which does not require extensive previous experience. System Administrator builds skill proficiency while working on basic projects within the IT department. This position supports NERC CIP compliance by executing tasks in accordance with published policies, procedures, and guidelines. System Administrator provides input for annual upgrade planning and budgeting.
The pay range for this position begins at $72,677 per year. Appropriate compensation will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and any previous relevant experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Enterprise Systems Infrastructure
- Provide daily system support to ensure 24x7 availability.
- Monitor and provide support for all client devices.
- Provide information for hardware/software enhancements for performance and reliability.
- Maintain a rotation schedule for assets.
- Cyber Security Alignment
- Configure and manage user access controls
- Ensure timely application of security patches and updates
- Manage and secure mobile devices accessing the organization's network and data
- Enforce the use of multi-factor authentication for accessing cooperative systems
- Active Directory Management
- Create, modify, and delete user accounts, groups, and organizational units (OUs)
- Develop, implement, and regularly update Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
- Manage permissions and access controls for files, folders, and other resources
- Use scripts and automation tools to streamline common administrative task
- End User Support and Technical Assistance
- Monitor the department’s help desk for tickets.
- Provide responses to Tier 2 support tickets and queries in accordance with SLAs.
- Collaborate with Technical Support staff as an escalation point for support tickets.
- Work with vendors to report bugs and monitor support requests through to resolution.

Job Qualification Standards
Education and Training
- Position requires a 4-year degree in computer science, information systems, or other related area, or a 2-year degree with system administration experience.
Experience
- Windows and Linux Operating Systems experience preferred.
- Microsoft 365 Suite experience preferred.
- Experience preferred with systems administration including server-side development, VMware, Microsoft Active Directory, and server/storage systems hardware and architecture.
- Well-versed in installing Windows, software, applications, antivirus, patching, and change management.
- Able to manage time and priorities effectively.
- Proficient in working with end-users remotely and in person.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
