Job Summary:
The seasonal lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons using the aquatic facilities. This includes preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, enforcing facility rules, and providing excellent customer service. This is a seasonal position, typically running during the summer months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Patron Safety:
- Continuously monitor the pool/aquatic area for potential hazards and unsafe behaviors.
- Enforce all facility rules and regulations consistently and fairly.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including rescues and first aid.
- Administer CPR and/or AED as needed.

Emergency Response:
- Recognize and respond to emergencies according to established protocols.
- Perform water rescues and provide appropriate follow-up care.
- Administer first aid and CPR/AED as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and accidents.

Facility Maintenance:
- Inspect the pool/aquatic area and equipment for safety and cleanliness.
- Assist with general cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
- Monitor water quality and report any concerns to supervisors.

Customer Service:
- Provide courteous and professional assistance to all patrons.
- Answer questions and provide information about facility rules and services.
- Promote a positive and safe environment.

Training and Certification:
- Maintain current lifeguard, CPR, AED, and first aid certifications.
- Attend all required in-service training and meetings.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates) or be able to obtain.
- Current CPR/AED and first aid certifications or able to obtain.
- Strong swimming and water rescue skills.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to enforce rules and regulations firmly and fairly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to withstand prolonged exposure to sun and heat.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift and move objects and be able to be physically active for long periods of time.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment swim test.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous lifeguarding experience.
- Experience in customer service.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Exposure to sun, heat, and water.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
