What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Specialist - 1st Shift position at Minute Men Staffing?
A large Automotive manufacturer in the Eastend is in need of an experienced Shipping and Receiving specialist on first shift; Monday - Friday - 6am to 2:30pm. This position is full time temp to hire. The material handler is responsible for servicing the manufacturing department by delivering materials to specific areas of the plant as directed by the manufacturing department. Guarantee internal handling of material (component, WIP and finished goods) observing label dates and respecting FIFO rules (First in, first out).
Responsibilities
• Attend Daily Shift Meeting;
• Ensure 100% delivery to customer;
• Update Shipping Board;
• Enter Receivers into SAP;
• Sign for drivers delivering parts;
• Post BOL’s for Shipments;
• Update DDL Blend Data;
• Check ASN Status;
• Take part and improve effectiveness using Lean Manufacturing methods;
• Install and maintain 5S standards;
• Work shifts and overtime as necessary;
• Responsible for the safety of all personnel working in the areas including visitors. Ensure health and safety requirements and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure adequate production lines supplies: assure the cleanness and tidiness of stocking areas, ensure feeding of production lines;
• Escalate issues to Team Leader/ Shift Leader as necessary;
• Work flexibly in order to meet customer demands and needs;
• Ensure First IN First Out and follow all alert systems.
• Responsible for maintaining equipment in an excellent working condition
• Assist with any additional tasks as assigned by the company
• Operate the equipment used in a safe manor.
• Perform equipment inspection prior to starting the shift.
• Move material to the manufacturing floor.
• Removes all finished goods and scrap material from the manufacturing floor.
• Returns excess material to the proper storage area.
• Help keep operator stations clean of all spilled material.
• Help keep all floor areas of the facilities organized and clear of material debris.
• All other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor.

Position Specifications
Authorities
• Assign dock door to truck drivers according to receiving/shipping schedule and dock availability
• Receive materials in SAP following standard receiving process.
• Ship materials in Insequence / MII / SAP following standard shipping process.
• Perform 1st OK inspection for equipment (Forklift / Tugger)
• Correct unsafe conditions interrupting material flow (Example: pallet or cardboard in the middle of aisle etc)
Education / Experience:
• Experience in production within the automotive industry;
• Must be a licensed forklift operator. (Provided through internal testing);
• At least 5 years recent forklift experience.
• Basic level of lean manufacturing techniques preferable but not essential;
• Minimum education level: High School Diploma / GED

• Strong attention to detail and willing to listen, discuss and ‘bottom out’ issues
• Ability to work under pressure to tight time scales
