The Housekeeping Technician is responsible for partnering with the Housekeeping manager in order to clean, sanitize, and beautify the Miracle Camp facilities and surrounding areas in order to create an environment that is not only fresh, but also aesthetically pleasing for them to enjoy their retreat and draw closer to God distraction free.
Desired Profile:
- Be a professing Christian who demonstrates growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ, in part through consistent involvement in a local church and regular study of God’s Word.
- Eager to participate in required ministry equipping sessions.
- Be a self-starter, professional, energetic, detailed, ambitious and committed to the growth and development of MCRC.
· Have experience in and a heart for Christian hospitality, albeit indirect.
· Be flexible and aware that MCRC’s scheduled activities may be interrupted or changed due to the needs of the guest.
· Have a servant’s heart with a desire to part of a team ministry and a desire to do whatever is needed to help the MCRC team achieve its goals.
· Be willing to work days, evenings, and weekends to meet the needs of the ministry organization and our guests.
· Willing and able to represent Fellowship of Evangelical Churches (FEC) & MCRC
· Agree with and sign MCRC’s Ministry Expectations and Staff Handbook
Job Responsibilities
90% - Facilities Sanitization and Beautification
· Aid the Housekeeping Manager in “flipping” the camp between groups
· This includes but is not limited to cleaning toilets, sinks, mirrors; sweeping/mopping floors; vacuuming; cleaning and sanitizing spills; making beds; washing sheets
· Aid the Housekeeping Manager in cleans in between groups
· This may include cleaning in between summer camp days in the summer and also doing maintenance clean ups while a group is still here (e.g., replace toilet paper, empty and replace trash bags)
· Clean efficiently and with gracious hospitality towards the guests and camp staff as mistakes can be made by both.
10% Clear Communication
· Communicate clearly and frequently with the Housekeeping Manager in regards to schedule, block out dates, time off, flips and flip prep.
· Communicate with Housekeeping Manager about any damages so that pictures can be taken and documented.
10% - Other
· Assist the Housekeeping Manager and their direct supervisor (Director of Guest Services) with any other tasks asked of you.
· This may include but is not limited to: help with dining services, maintenance, beach clean-up, empty trash cans, assist with guest services set up, etc., if the urgent need were to arise.
Other Requirements
- Work schedule: Varies according to need. Extensive weekend and summer work may be required at times.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and occasionally 35-100lbs with assistance
- Must be able to push, bend, and twist
- Must be available to be contacted by cell and email within a timely manner (within 24 hours, but preferably within a few hours).

Qualifications: Background and experience required for this position

- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: At least one other job with one year of experience and good references from that job.
- Knowledge: Helpful to have knowledge of camp activities, group dynamics, hosting groups congenially.
- Must be flexible and innovative as housekeeping many times has to adapt last minute or work quickly between flips.
- Must be an excellent team player who communicates well, has a positive attitude when work gets tough, and a learner willing to follow through with the instructions of the Housekeeping Manager.
- Must be able to problem solve and self-motivate.
- Must live a Christian life that is in agreement with the statement of faith of the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches.
- Flexible to the ever-changing demands of a Christian camp and retreat center environment.
Performance Review Process
At least bi-yearly, but preferably quarterly, the Housekeeping Manager will provide a 360-degree performance review of the Housekeeping Technician based on a set of core competencies. This review will include feedback from the Activities Manager, a self-evaluation, and other feedback from other co-workers. The results will be compiled and reviewed together. The Housekeeping Manager will provide feedback including recommendations for performance improvements.
